"Happy New Year"
The start of a new year is exciting especially for those who walk by faith, and not by sight. We can be sure that whatever is from the Lord is for our best.
We shared with you that God has blessed the church at our new location. Each Sunday our hearts are filled with joy and praise as we see God using ordinary people to do extra-ordinary things. Our new members are inviting friends to church to worship our God.
Just as you can imagine the winter holidays take a different slant here in Hawaii because it doesn't "feel" like winter. Celebrations are grand nonetheless. Our trip to Ice Palace was great fun for the youth, and young at heart.
Our church family joined hands and hearts for a time of Thanksgiving at a local restaurant. (We Baptists love every occasion to eat.) The real celebrating came the Sunday after Thanksgiving when 9 Believers entered the baptismal waters at the beach. The following Sunday an elderly couple came forward to join the church by baptism.
This year the ladies planned to have a Christmas party at a fellowship hall and have a table decorating contest. (We had a great turn out- we would not have fit in the Kakilala home this year.) The ladies at the church also planned a creative bridal shower for Susann Kakilala-we ordered items from her Target registry, and took a trip to the Target in Honolulu and made a humorous dvd.
Another item for thanksgiving was the birth of Maliah Flores. We thank God for adding a healthy baby girl to this family.
We continue to receive good reports from the new mission in Micronesia. Please pray that God will bless the needs of this mission work.
This year we were able to have our Christmas party at our new location. It was a blessing to meet indoors out of the sun's heat. (Remember we are in Hawaii. Lol ) We had several first time visitors.
Our family traveled to Arkansas for the wedding of our daughter Susann, to Joshua Pickard. Several men cared for the church in our absence. We thank God for His love and grace for such a momentous occasion.
Thank you for your love and support,
The Kakilala Family
